GRWM | College Fashion Week 2017 x Bedhead Styling

Friday, September 29, 2017

Hey there!
College Fashion Week NYC is coming up this weekend and I wanted to share my getting ready routine with you guys! This will be my third year attending CFW and I'm super excited to see what's to come! *Fun fact: The first year I attended College Fashion Week I actually walked in the show and it was such a cool experience. I felt so special getting my makeup and hair done. I'm so thankful to have been able to attend last year and this upcoming year as a blogger covering the event.

For my makeup, I kept it pretty simple. I used Makeup Forever HD Foundation, NYX Dark Circle Concealer, Glossier Wowder, NYX Blush and It Cosmetics Mascara.

I partnered with Bed Head Styling and Her Campus for this post and in the video below I'm going to be showing you how I curl my hair with the Bedhead Curlipops Hair Curler! My go to hairstyle is wavy curls so this curling iron was perfect for me. Bedhead has been one of my favorite hair tool brands for years now so I enjoyed trying out this curling iron by them.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for a recap on my experience at College Fashion Week!

Teen Vogue Back To School Trunk Party!

Sunday, September 13, 2015

Hi guys so I got the chance to host a back to school themed party sponsored by Teen Vogue! Teen Vogue sent me a trunk full of amazing products to give away at the party. The sponsors included Aeropostale, American Apparel, NYM brands, Maybelline, Lesportsac, Tampax, Staples, Other's Follow, Asos and more! I was shocked at how many things were in the trunk! It weighed over 100 pounds. They also gave me some really cute decorations to use at the party. I invited some of my friends from FIT. (where I go to school) We tried out the products while talking about how the beginning of the semester went. It was a lot of fun to catch up and look at all of the new products we had to try. Here are some of the products that were at the party. :)

This was an amazing experience, thanks to Teen Vogue for providing me with this opportunity!

Talk to you soon,
Becca

Rockefeller Center Outfit of the Day

Wednesday, March 18, 2015

So yesterday My friend Cara (https://www.youtube.com/user/ItsCaradee) and I decided to go shopping. We started off in Herald Square then moved our way uptown to Rockefeller Center. There are so many great shopping areas in NYC so it's easy to spend an entire day looking for things. I decided to dress casual because it was a little windy and I knew I was going to be doing a lot of walking.

My top is a vintage Harley Davidson shirt from LF and my jacket is from Target.
I got my ripped boyfriend jeans from Forever 21 and they are my favorite jeans to wear. They surprisingly fit me pretty well and are staying in good shape after being washed plenty of times.

We ended up going to Forever 21, Topshop, Zara and Free People.

Thanks for reading & stay tuned for more content :)

FIT : My First Semester Experience

Friday, March 13, 2015

I created a video all about my experience so far at FIT! I will also do a dorm tour if you would like that :) I go into detail about classes, majors, living on campus, living in NYC and more! Give it a thumbs up if you want to see more videos about the Fashion Institute of Technology!

FIT Outfit of the Day

Wednesday, March 4, 2015

This outfit is a casual outfit that can be worn for many different occasions. Between running errands walking your dog, going shopping, there are endless possibilities. In my case, I wore this to a day of classes and shooting some stuff later in the day with my friends. It was snowing a ton and I needed something casual that I can be comfortable in.

My top is from Brandy Melville. It says "Ok, but first coffee." It basically explains my life. My moto jacket is from Zara. Pants are the Marisa Bi-stretch Ankle pants in black. They are the comfiest pants that I own. I feel like I can run a mile in them. Shoes are my old, beat up cream colored low top Converse. My beautiful camera bag is the Abby bag from Johansen Camera Bags. It took me forever to find a cute camera bag and this site has a ton of different options. Most of them even look like a regular handbag. You can shop them here:

My Experience at New York Fashion Week F/W 15

Hey guys! It's been a while since I've been on here. I post more frequently on my youtube channel. You can keep up with it here:

So I wanted to tell you guys about my experience at New York Fashion Week for the F/W 15 shows. I ended up attending two shows and a showcase… So about a week and a half before Fashion Week I got an email from Stylehaul (my network) asking if I could cover two fashion shows. The shows were Kaelen and Milly by Michelle. I was so excited that they asked me to do social media coverage for them backstage. It was something I had dreamed of doing. The days before the shows quickly passed and before I knew it it was time for me to go to the Kaelen show.     Kaelen is a NYC based clothing brand designed by Kaelen Haworth. I didn't know much about this designer before going to this show. Luckily the venue was within walking distance and I was able to get there right on time. I checked in to the show and headed backstage. I was sent there with Kiss Products and Broadway Nails, which is a nail brand that's sold at stores like CVS, Target and Duane Reade. I thought this was pretty cool since I always use their nail products. A few minutes after I got there, I met the head of the PR team and she basically told me what was going down that day. I would take pictures of the makeup, hair and nails team backstage and post them to my social media accounts. Although it seemed pretty straightforward, being backstage at fashion shows is pretty nerve-racking. Everyone is rushing to get the models hair and makeup done as fast as they can. There are usually 15-30 models walking the runways.  Luckily, I wasn’t there to dress any models like last fashion week. That was beyond nerve racking. Before the show, I got the chance to interview the Mac Makeup artist Chantel Miller. She was so sweet and told us that the makeup was inspired by Twin Peaks, a tv serial drama that took place in the early 90’s. They used simple eye makeup with a bold lip called Lady Danger, it’s a bright orange toned red shade that looks great on almost, if not all, skin tones. I’ll admit, after seeing it on the models, I had to go out and buy it! It’s my new favorite red shade. After the makeup, I interviewed Gina Edwards. She is a celebrity manicurist that has done work for Vera Wang, Betsey Johnson, Complex Magazine, Jimmy Choo and Vogue! For Kaelen she was using Kiss Design Perfection Strips and Impress press-on manicures. They used mostly nude shades on the models because the colors in the designs were very toned down. The hair for this show was very soft brushed out curls, which gave it a 60’s vibe. After the interviews, I was able to watch the entire show. The designs were very wearable pieces. A lot of the designs used vertical stripes and colors like baby pink, navy and burnt orange. While watching the show, Danielle Bernstein of WeWoreWhat casually walked past me a few times, that was pretty cool.

On February 16th, 2015, I attended a fashion showcase at Youtube Space New York called Brand Assembly. The designers included Hunter Bell, Nikki Chasin and Michelle Kim. There were three different studios where the models displayed the clothes according to designer. The first studio was Hunter Bell. The designs were beautiful. The prints included zig zags, celestial and crochet textures. Most of the models wore thigh high boots which looked great with the silhouettes of the designs. I felt the same way about Nikki Chasin’s collection. The designs were amazing and included a gorgeous white maxi dress that I would wear nonstop. Michelle Kim’s collection was one of my favorites out of all the shows I went to. She used white and dark tones like grey and black. My favorite design was the dog printed dress. I could never pull it off but it is such a cute piece.

The last show I attended was Milly by Michelle. I attended this show for Stylehaul and worked with Beauty.com. For this show, I was able to meet the nails, hair and makeup team. They used products from Kevin Aucon, Color Prevails and Phyto Hair. They did a very simple, glowy makeup look with lightly teased out natural looking hair. Unfortunately I didn’t get to watch the show but I saw some pictures and the designs were very complex. Majority of the designs were abstract shapes with neon colored fabrics.

I plan to start posting on here a lot more so stay tuned for more content xx

New York Fashion Week Day 1: My Backstage Experience

Thursday, September 4, 2014

Living in New York can be awesome. I've only been here for a couple short weeks and I was lucky enough to go to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and work backstage. I volunteered at Houghton. I have never heard of Houghton so I was a little nervous as what it exactly was. I googled the brand and saw some amazing designs. Houghton is based in NYC. It was founded in 2011 and debuted on the runway in 2012. The designer (Katharine Polk) was named as "Designer to Watch" by WWD.
I wasn't sure what exactly I was going to be doing at this show. (I had only signed up two days before) This made me really nervous but excited at the same time. I had always dreamed about going to Fashion Week in New York but I never had the opportunity.
As the day approached, I started thinking in my head what I was going to wear. There were obviously some rules on appearance. We could only wear all black. No Jewelry. No "crazy" hair colors. You basically had to look stylish but without many options. This is how it is for most Fashion Week shows. In my opinion, all black always looks stylish so I wasn't complaining. I went with a black chiffon top and simple black leggings. For shoes I went with my black high top converse. (being comfortable is a must)
When the big day came I got up really early for the 7am shift. I'm used to waking up early for class but never that early. Surprisingly I was really awake that morning..it was probably the excitement. We took a short cab ride to Milk Studios on 15th street and then walked the area to find a coffee shop... there was nothing around which was very surprising. We ran back to the studios and went up to the second floor. The building was so modern with a lot of windows and brick walls. There was even a small cafe area with complimentary coffee and food. We met with the leader of our volunteer group. She was so nice and explained what we were going to do. We then had to unpack all the garments, steam them and get them ready for all of the models. The models came in and we dressed them for a test run of the show. I've never been around such gorgeous and skinny human beings. I was scared that they would be snobby and mean (I'll admit, I believed the stereotypes) but they were actually beyond nice and very smart.
After the test run, we grabbed something to eat then ran back to get all of the models dressed. We quickly buttoned, zippered and layered each piece. As soon as they got dressed and lined up, the makeup artists, hair stylists and photographers came in and started fixing their makeup and hair. It was getting really crowded in that small room. The bright flashes and loud noises didn't help. I'm sure that the models are used to it though. They were all on their phones as if this wasn't a huge deal.
Showtime came around and the models lined up again then headed out onto the runway. From the backstage we couldn't really see the runway but we could see them walk out then walk back in. They all were really confident and looked great. The show turned out awesome, everyone loved it.
We started cleaning up all of the clothing and trash and I turned around and saw Dascha Polanco from Orange is the New Black. I freaked out. Being that it's one of my favorite shows, I had to meet her and take a picture.
I had a great experience at NYFW and I hope I can volunteer and eventually work at more shows in the future. Thank you to Houghton and Milk Studios for giving me this once in a lifetime opportunity.

I will be posting more pictures and my thoughts on the looks in another post :)
