Review | Younique's Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes

Saturday, October 31, 2015

Hey guys!
I recently got to try some fiber lashes. I'm not one to use fiber lashes, fake lashes or anything like that so this was a new experience for me. So this specific product is a two step process. It comes with the transplanting gel and the natural fibers. The packaging is really nice and the tubes come in a cloth bag. It also comes with instructions and images on how to apply the product. Each solution comes in a mascara looking tube. The transplanting gel actually goes on like a mascara and works both as a primer and a glue for the natural fibers. The fibers brush on pretty easily and attach to your lashes instantly. Overall, it's such a simple process and it actually makes my lashes look great! My lashes aren't thick so the fibers work well at making them appear to be. I love how they look after using the fibers. Although they add thickness, they don't really add much length to your lashes. I'm fine with that because my lashes are pretty long to begin with. I'm really happy with the outcome of this product and I can't wait to use it again!

Moncler Gamme Rouge SS16

Monday, October 19, 2015

Looking through images of Fashion Week shows is obviously not as fun as actually attending them. I've been to a few New York Fashion Week shows in the past and watching them in person is an awesome experience. Seeing how much time and effort was put into creating all of the looks, the stages and decor is really indescribable. Just look at the time lapse video that shows how long it took Dior to create their flower covered mountain set. http://www.whowhatwear.com/christian-dior-spring-summer-2016-runway-set. Moncler had a similar concept with their set. The models walked across a wild meadow scene with grass and weeds magically growing out of the floorboards. Not only was the set beautiful, the romantic lace embroidered designs coincided with the poetic fairy tale like dream that was the Moncler runway. Sheer lace with silver hardware was a common ground for the designs. The silver frost peplumed vests with snowy white patterns painted on them, sheer organza shorts, jackets with floral appliqués, windowpane prints, lace babydoll dresses were just a few of the trends that occurred on the runway. For shoes, Monlcer went with white tennis sneakers. Some of the sneakers had windowpane stripes on them, while others had perforated holes.

Color Stories

Sunday, October 18, 2015

Hey guys!

The other day I took a trip down Broadway in Soho to go shopping and I noticed a lot of awesome store windows. Store windows are really important because they show what the store is truly about. They display the clothing while giving the customers a feel to what their brand stands for, in that season anyways. There are so many stores in Soho that have awesome window displays. The first one that I stopped at was Ted Baker. I've never shopped at Ted Baker but they had really cool windows! On the side of the windows they had a screen of moving images. The screens displayed images of bloggers and influencers wearing their clothing and going on adventures. I thought this was a great concept because their collection for the season focused on a more natural color story.

Another store that I stopped at was the men's liquor store by J.Crew. This store was a men's store but I loved the location of it. They created a clothing store inside an old tavern. They even kept all of the alcohol and bar as props. This store carried more rustic pieces and their windows made that obvious before even stepping in the store. They had flannels, washed out denim jackets and all different types of button ups. I liked how their displays matched their color scheme and gave the store a vintage look/feel.

Last but not least, I stopped at Alexander Wang. For this season, they had a lot of all black pieces. Since all black can be sort of boring, Wang adds hardware to the clothing to add something extra to the simple color scheme. He also used textured fabrics rather than smooth ones. These articles of clothing are definitely statement pieces.

Her Campus College Fashion Week 2015 // New York

Sunday, October 11, 2015

Hey guys!
This past weekend I attended Her Campus College Fashion Week in New York City. I actually got cast as a model for the runway show which was super exciting. I've never done anything like that before. A week before the event, I got an email giving information about the event, what time to be there, what to bring, etc. Just like the previous year, it was held at Santos Party House, which is a nightclub downtown. We were told to show up at 12 pm and the show wasn't supposed to start until after 8 pm. With those 8 hours, we had to get a fitting for the clothes, get our hair and makeup done and practice our runway walks/poses. Before going to the venue, I decided to do a little shopping in Soho.

When we got there, Windsor, the founder, spent hours with us and helped us perfect our poses/walks. (It took me forever to walk at the right pace because I'm so used to rushing everywhere in NYC) In between the fitting and hair/makeup, we helped out with making the gift bags. It was a lot of fun running around and trying to get 500 gift bags made in an hour. After helping with that, we got called into our fittings by which scene we were in. My scene was last so I was fitted last. It was so cool seeing my image on the model sheet in front of the clothes they picked out for me.

Glam Squad did our makeup and they used all Milani products. It looked amazing. They did a light shadow with smoked out black eye liner in a small wing shape. For blush, they made it very bold by applying a lot of product to my face. It's not typically a look I'd go for but I loved the way it came out.

We had our brows filled in by European Wax Center. They made mine look really Cara Delevingne-esque by brushing them out and putting a lot of product on them. I'm so terrible at doing my brows, I wish they could style them for me everyday.

As the venue started getting more and more crowded, I started to realize how cool the experience was. As it reached 8 pm, we all got dressed, lined up and started to walk down the runway. My group had the party theme. We all wore "going out" outfits with lots of shiny fabrics, sequins and leather jackets. The outfit I wore consisted of a black strappy back sports bra under a lace crop top, paired with gold culotte pants. It was definitely something out of my comfort zone but it was cool to wear for a night! Overall, it was an amazing experience. I met tons of awesome people and got some inspiration for future outfits. Thanks to Her Campus for having me and hopefully I'll be there next year!

Street Style Stalking

Hi guys!
Living in New York is such a great experience. There's great food, concerts and most of all fashion. You can get inspiration from literally anything in NYC. People dress how they feel and sometimes wear some of the craziest outfits. New York Fashion Week just passed last month and while walking around the city, I noticed trends among some of the outfits I saw. One of the trends was washed out denim. Denim in general is so in style right now. There's so many colors of denim and it works with so many things.
